GETTING STARTED / A CLEAR FIRST RUN

Set up around the way you will actually work.

A successful start connects the right account, compatible devices and a clear operating process. Use this guide to prepare your information and check the essentials before rolling tracking out more widely.

01 / GETTING STARTED WITH CODESTATION GPS

1. Choose your starting point

Personal account

For tracking your own vehicles or a small-business operation. Start with the people who need access and the devices you intend to connect.

Hosted white label

For operating a branded tracking service. Bring your business identity, intended market, customer workflow and web/mobile requirements.

Hardware or phone

Decide whether location comes from installed GPS trackers, a supported phone-tracker app or a combination. Each needs its own compatibility and configuration checks.

2. Prepare the connection details

  • Record exact device models, firmware/protocol details if known and approximate quantities.
  • Identify the authorised account administrator and intended users.
  • Request the correct account and app access instructions through the agreed channel.
  • For hardware, obtain model-specific server/port and connectivity instructions from the authorised setup process; never guess values from another provider.
  • For phones, review location permissions, background operation, battery settings and consent.

3. Validate a small, authorised test

Confirm the data

Check that the intended object appears and that timestamps and location records make sense. A visible marker alone does not prove every sensor or status field is correct.

Check the workflow

Review a sample journey, report and relevant event. Test configured notification recipients and supported app behaviour without exposing real customer records.

Record the outcome

Note what worked, what was delayed and what still needs configuration. Resolve these points before increasing the number of devices or users.

4. Agree the operating arrangements

Confirm who manages users, device configuration and support requests. Agree retention, app distribution, service terms and any recurring commitments. Keep an up-to-date device inventory and use the support guide when reporting an issue.
